A special recognition for an event to remember. Eric Adamsthe mayor of the Big Apple, donated to Robert DeNiro the keys to the city of New York. It happened last Wednesday 7 June, during the opening ceremony of Tribeca film festival 2023 – the international review of independent films conceived and directed by the actor himself, who recently became a father for the seventh time, with Jane Rosenthal And Craig Hatkoff.

“From mean streets to Taxi driversfrom wild bull to Those good guysthe work of DeNiro it is an iconic part of our city – he declared Adams – despite the success, Robert he has never forgotten his New York roots, which is why I am honored to give him a key to the city of New York.” The acknowledgment comes as an ‘early gift’ for the actor’s birthday who will blow out eighty candles on August 17th.

But that is not all. The Tribeca film festival decided to celebrate the actor of Taxi Driver even with the DeNiro Con, three days of celebrations – from 29 September to 1 October – which will include the organization of round tables, film screenings, musical performances and reconstructions of the actor’s iconic sets. “It was difficult to choose the gift for Bob – said the co-founder of Tribeca Jane Rosenthal – in the end we decided to celebrate it with an event full of fun and celebrations. Only in this way could we pay homage to him for his unwavering dedication and artistic greatness”.

Many artists present at the ceremony: Matt Damon, Zazie Beetz And Mark Ruffalo, just to name a few. And then the friend and colleague Martin Scorsese. “Bob he is a visionary: he saw the potential for a massive resurrection of this part of the city – said the director of Killers of the flower moon – it is incredible that up to now he had not yet received the keys to the city. It is a dutiful recognition!”.
