FAST X. In theaters
The only films that dare to challenge the market while the Cannes Film Festival is raging they are blockbusters with proven autonomy (and yield) at the box office, without the need for adequate promotion thanks to the tam tam of enthusiasts, secure locomotives for takings, well equipped in terms of budget, cast, digital effects. It’s no exception Fast X which, as the title indicates, is chapter number ten Of Fast & Furiousthe most famous serial adventure of 2000s cinema, initially based on clandestine car racing and then became the wildest carnival / self-propelled thriller Hollywood remembers, real disfigurement of the laws of physics and statics.
The first episode dates back to 2001: protagonists then Vin Diesel (Dominic Toretto) and Paul Walker (Brian O’Connor), to which presences of the caliber of Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Kurt Russell have been added over time. There new entry of the 2023 edition the reigning Aquaman Jason Momoa. Who here becomes the bad guy on duty, his name is Dante and a guy from Hell and malabolgiason of a Brazilian drug kingpin, Hernan Reyes, eliminated by Dom Toretto.
Dante’s revenge is therefore a legacy of the past and concerns the entire Toretto family, while the battle moves, in an agitated cine-postcard à la James Bond, from Los Angeles to London to Antarctica. The bandwagon lays the foundations for the crash in front of the Colosseum, in a gladiatorial and noiseless Rome, polished, more fantasy than the Toretto-Dante duel. Dad, you’re not afraid of anything. But I’m afraid. Fear of losing the people I love, says 8-year-old Bill. And Dad’s blood freezes in his veins.
Gliding with chugging engines between abysses, jungles and glaciersFrench director Louis Leterrier, 49, who comes fromIncredible Hulk (2008), Clash of the Titans (2010) and Two very special agents (2022), follows the scheme without overdoing it, looking for the pulp of a shred of history, running on the line of innovation and virtual reality. This time the psychologies are not zero, not only the well-aimed boom booms of the blazing videogame count: come on, the films of the saga have also taken on a discreet aesthetic value as well as an evident luster in the composition of the images. With her pebbles in her shoes, Momoa better than Vin Dieselbut it’s not enough.
