Ben Affleck is an American actor, director, producer and screenwriter who has been active in Hollywood for more than two decades. He first rose to fame with the 1997 drama Good Will Hunting, which he co-wrote and starred in alongside Matt Damon.

The film earned them both Academy Awards for Best Original Screenplay and launched their careers as leading men in Hollywood. Since then, Affleck has gone on to star in a variety of films including Daredevil (2003), Argo (2012) and Gone Girl (2014). In addition to his acting work, he’s also directed several successful films such as Gone Baby Gone (2007), The Town (2010) and Live by Night (2016).

Affleck was born on August 15th 1972 in Berkeley California. His father is a social worker while his mother is an elementary school teacher. As a child he attended Cambridge Rindge & Latin School where he met Matt Damon whom he would later collaborate with on several projects including Good Will Hunting. After graduating from high school, Affleck went on to study at Occidental College but dropped out after one year due to lack of interest.

Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s Ben Affleck appeared in numerous blockbuster movies such as Armageddon (1998), Pearl Harbor(2001) and Changing Lanes (2002). During this time period many critics began labeling him as just another “Hollywood Pretty Boy” despite his talent for writing scripts that were often praised by reviewers. It wasn’t until 2007 when Affleck made his directorial debut with Gone Baby Gone did people begin taking notice of him again which led to critical acclaim for future directing efforts like Argo which won three Academy Awards including Best Picture at the 85th Annual Oscars ceremony held in 2013.

In recent years Ben Affleck has become increasingly involved behind the scenes of various movie projects ranging from producing documentaries about wildlife conservation to helping develop television shows based on comic books franchises such as Batman and Justice League Unlimited.

In addition to his work in front of the camera, Affleck has also established himself as a talented director and screenwriter. His directorial debut, “Gone Baby Gone” (2007), was met with critical acclaim. He has since directed and/or co-written such films as “The Town” (2010), “Argo” (2012), and “Gone Girl” (2014).
