Harrison Ford is one of the most iconic actors in Hollywood. He is best known for his roles as Han Solo in Star Wars, Indiana Jones in Raiders of The Lost Ark and Rick Deckard in Blade Runner.
Ford was born on July 13th 1942, to parents Christopher Ford (a former actor turned advertising executive) and Dorothy Nidelman (a former radio actress). His family moved around a lot when he was growing up due to his father’s job, eventually settling down in Park Ridge Illinois where Harrison attended Maine Township High School East. It wasn’t until after high school that Ford began acting classes at the famous Neighborhood Playhouse School Of Theatre In New York City which kick started his career.
Once starting out as an extra or bit part player, it didn’t take long before Ford made himself known with some bigger parts including American Graffiti (1973), The Conversation (1974) and Apocalypse Now (1979). But it was George Lucas’ space opera franchise ‘Star Wars’ that propelled him into mainstream fame when he took up the role of Han Solo – a charming but rogue smuggler who helps lead a ragtag group of rebels against Darth Vader and the Empire. This character endures today as one of cinema’s most beloved antiheroes; making ‘Han Solo’ synonymous with Harrison Ford himself.
Later came another equally memorable performance by Ford- this time playing Dr Henry “Indiana” Jones Jr., an intrepid archaeologist who hunts Nazi relics while escaping death traps set by Nazis throughout Raiders Of The Lost Ark released 1981 followed closely behind by its sequels Temple Of Doom & Last Crusade both also starring Harrison gaining much critical acclaim along the way.
For all these amazing performances over three decades there are many awards bestowed upon him such as A Golden Globe Award for Best Actor Motion Picture Musical Or Comedy 1984 For Romancing The Stone , MTV Movie Awards Lifetime Achievement award 2000 & BAFTA Fellowship 2008.
Today, Harrison continues to act although not nearly so often having starred mostly recently alongside Ryan Gosling In Blade Runner 2049 (2017) showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon! All things considered we can safely say that Mr Harrison ‘Han Solo’ Ford has had quite an impressive run thus far!
Outside of acting Harrison Ford has been involved heavily within philanthropic organisations around world spending much of free time giving back whenever possible – often seen attending charity events or publically speaking out against injustices when they occur wherever they may be taking place globally.
