Julia Roberts is an American actress and producer who has starred in many iconic films such as Pretty Woman, Runaway Bride, Erin Brockovich and Steel Magnolias. She has been nominated for four Academy Awards, three Golden Globe Awards and two Screen Actors Guild Awards throughout her career.

Roberts was born on October 28th 1967 in Atlanta Georgia to Betty Lou Bredemus and Walter Grady Roberts. She attended Grady High School in Atlanta before moving to New York City with a friend to pursue acting. After appearing in several television commercials she made her feature film debut with the 1988 romantic comedy Satisfaction which earned her a nomination for Best Actress at the Young Artist Awards.

Throughout the 1990s Julia Roberts’ star rose quickly due to her roles in movies like Pretty Woman (1990) which grossed over $460 million worldwide, Sleeping With The Enemy (1991), My Best Friend’s Wedding (1997) and Notting Hill (1999). Her performance as real-life legal clerk Erin Brockovich won her an Academy Award for Best Actress as well as numerous other awards including a Golden Globe Award, Screen Actors Guild Award and People’s Choice Award.

In 2000s Julia continued to take on diverse roles such as Charlie Wilson’s War (2007), Eat Pray Love (2010) August: Osage County (2013). In 2017 she returned back to television after 20 years away from it by starring alongside Denzel Washington on Amazon Prime Video series Homecoming which earned both actors Emmy nominations.

Aside from acting Julia is also involved with charity work; she serves on the board of directors of Vital Voices Global Partnership -an organization that works towards empowering women globally-and also supports UNICEF USA programs dedicated to children’s health issues around world. In 2011 she received Hollywood Walk of Fame Star honouring all her accomplishments throughout career so far.
