Tom Hanks is one of the most beloved actors in Hollywood who has been entertaining worldwide audiences for several decades. He’s best known for his iconic roles in such films as Splash, Forrest Gump, and Saving Private Ryan. Born July 9th 1956 in Concord California, Tom attended Skyline High School before attending Chabot College to study theater arts.

From a very young age Tom had aspirations of becoming an actor on stage, with some television commercials being among his earliest professional work once he graduated from college. The late 70’s saw him appear on some well-received TV series including Bosom Buddies which earned him two Emmy nominations over the course of its run. His first major movie role came that same year when he co-starred alongside Daryl Hannah in Ron Howard’s hit romantic comedy Splash – earning himself a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor and further cementing his place among Hollywood A-listers.

The 90’s brought even greater success as he starred opposite Meg Ryan twice in 1989 thriller “The Burbs” and 1998 blockbuster “You’ve Got Mail”, while also delivering perhaps career defining turns in historical dramas “Forrest Gump” (for which he won both Academy Award & Golden Globe awards) and “Saving Private Ryan” – securing back to back Oscar nods.

In addition to acting, Hank is highly respected within the film industry due primarily thanks ultimately thank to dedicated philanthropic efforts throughout many years– notably donating money towards Hurricane Katrina relief funds.

According To Forbes Magazine 2015 Celebrity 100 List – Hanks placed seventh overall than any other male American actor consistently proving why fans consider him America’s Sweetheart. Finally despite having achieved much critical acclaim, he remains modest about it all claiming that: ‘I feel like I’m here under false pretense.” This statement sums up what makes Hanks so lovable; highlighting how humble grounded personable man he really is outside off camera.

Hanks was born to Janet Marylyn Frager, a hospital worker, and Amos Mefford Hanks, a cook turned restaurant manager. He grew up in California and attended Skyline High School where he developed an interest in theater arts. After graduating high school he went on to study theatre at Chabot College but ended up dropping out due to financial difficulties.

Despite being dropped by Columbia Pictures after filming only three episodes for Bosom Buddies , Tom’s carrier didn’t slow down. Over time he built himself into an iconic leading man sensation through movies like Big (1988), Philadelphia (1993), Apollo 13 (1995), The Green Mile (1999) and Sully (2016). But perhaps his biggest success came from Forrest Gump which earned him critical acclaim along with multiple awards including two Oscars, no other person has ever done this feat before.

Mentionable support role played include Toy Story. With four flicks under Disney franchise Toy Story 1 2 3 & 4 combined grossed more than $1 billion worldwide thus bringing accolades worldwide and recognition upon its creator—TOM HANKS!

Beyond all these amazing accomplishment Tom is also a recognized philanthropist & activist known world wide for his charitable works from raising funds towards coronavirus relief effort to supporting foundations dedicated to combating homelessness, contributing personal funds.
